BNP has overhauled its nominations in eight parliamentary constituencies ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election, pressing ahead with strategic seat adjustments and alliance-sharing as the February polls draw closer.

Party insiders say the reshuffle may not end here, with further changes likely in several constituencies. Some seats have already been ceded to alliance partners who joined the joint movement against the previous fascist regime.

In Dhaka-12, BNP has withdrawn its nominee and handed the seat to Saiful Haque, general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party, under a seat-sharing understanding. Former Jubo Dal president Saiful Alam Nirob had earlier been named BNP's candidate.

In Chattogram -4-covering Sitakunda and parts of Akbar Shah Pahartoli-BNP has finalised Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury, replacing Kazi Salahuddin. After receiving his nomination, Aslam Chowdhury met local party leaders and activists at his Sitakunda residence on Saturday morning.

In a key Chattogram switch, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was initially nominated for Chattogram -10, but was later shifted to Chattogram -11, a seat that had remained vacant during the first nomination announcement on November 3.

BNP has now named Sayed Al Noman, president of the Nationalist Jute Workers' Party, as its candidate for Chattogram -10. He is the son of late BNP vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman.

Major changes have also been made in Jashore, where BNP replaced candidates in four of the district's six constituencies.
In Jashore-1 (Sharsha), former central office secretary Mofiqul Hasan Tripti has been dropped, with Sharsha Upazila BNP general secretary Nuruzzaman Liton taking his place.

In Jashore-4, covering Bagharpara, Abhaynagar Upazila and Basundia Union, Engineer TS Ayub, a BNP central joint secretary, was replaced by Matiar Rahman Faraji, president of the BNP Abhaynagar Upazila Committee.

In Jashore-5, the nomination of Advocate Shahid Iqbal Hossain was withdrawn and handed instead to Mufti Rashid Bin Wakkas, senior joint secretary general of alliance partner Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam (one faction). In Jashore-6 (Keshabpur), BNP central member and former Chhatra Dal president Kazi Rawnkul Islam Shraban was replaced by Abul Hossain Azad, another BNP central committee member and the upazila committee president.

In Pirojpur-1, BNP has finalised Alamgir Hossain, former district BNP convener and central executive committee member, for the seat covering Nazirpur, Pirojpur Sadar and Zianagar. His nomination paper, signed by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, was handed over on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, the Pirojpur-1 nomination had gone to former minister Mustafa Jamal Haider, chairman of alliance partner Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar faction).

Party leaders say the reshuffle reflects BNP's evolving electoral calculus as it balances organisational strength, alliance commitments and ground-level dynamics ahead of the February vote.
