
Leading cultural organisation Chhayanaut held a musical solidarity rally in protest against violent attacks on Bangladesh's age-old cultural heritage and free-thinking traditions.
The protest gathering took place on Tuesday at 4:00 pm on the street in front of Chhayanaut Cultural Centre in Dhaka's Dhanmondi.
Artists, writers, intellectuals, journalists, activists from various cultural organisations and people of progressive ideals joined the rally in a show of solidarity.
Chhayanaut artistes performed a series of timeless songs in chorus, invoking Bengali culture, humanity, secular values, and the spirit of resistance.
The songs included - Mora Jhonjhar Moto Uddam, O Bhai Khanti Sonar Cheye Khanti, Chol Chol Chol Urdhya Gogone Baje Madol, O Amar Desher Mati, Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ashe, Amar Mukti Aloy Aloy, and Gramer Naojowan Hindu Musalman among others. The programme concluded with the rendition of the national anthem.
