CHATMOHAR, PABNA, Dec 21: Former MP and BNP Central Committee Member Alhaj KM Anwarul Islam will contest as an independent candidate in the Pabna-3 (Chatmohar, Bhangura, Faridpur) constituency.
Towards this end, the two-time former MP elected on the BNP ticket, KM Anwarul Islam, collected his nomination paper on Sunday around 4:30 pm from the office of the Assistant Returning Officer and Chatmohar Upazila Executive Officer Musa Naser Chowdhury.
Present at the time were Chatmohar Municipality BNP General Secretary Md Tawhidul Islam Taizul, Chatmohar Upazila BNP leader Abdul Kuddus Alo Master, former UP chairman Nazir Sarkar, Bhangura Upazila's Par Bhangura Union BNP Vice-President Md Ismail Hossain, and Faridpur Upazila BNP leader former Warrant Officer Md Mojibur Rahman.
It is noted that following the BNP's awarding of the party nomination to Central Krishak Dal President Agriculturist Hasan Jafir Tuhin for the Pabna-3 seat, protests and torch processions led by KM Anwarul Islam and former Upazila BNP general secretary Md Hasadul Islam Hira demanding a local candidate had been held earlier.
