42,519 new voters in B'baria-5 ahead of JS polls

 
BRAHMANBARIA, Dec 18: The number of voters in the Brahmanbaria-5 (Nabinagar) constituency has increased by 42,519 ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election.

During the 12th parliamentary election, the constituency had a total of 432,307 voters, with voting conducted at 149 polling centres. This time, five new polling centres have been added, raising the total number to 154.

According to the updated figures, the total number of voters in the constituency now stands at 474,826. Of them, 226,736 are male, 207,086 female, and four belong to the third gender category.

The information was confirmed from the draft list of polling centres for the parliamentary constituency published by Md Suman Bhuiyan, Assistant Election Officer at the Nabinagar Upazila election office.

Brahmanbaria-5 constituency comprises 21 unions of Nabinagar Upazila along with one first-class municipality. The municipal area accounts for 50,500 voters, while the remaining 424,326 voters are registered across the 21 unions.

Commenting on election preparations, Brahmanbaria District Election Officer Mohammad Shaniazzaman Talukder said all arrangements are being made in line with the directives of the Election Commission.

"Our preparations are ongoing as per the guidelines of the Election Commission," he said.
Nabinagar Upazila Election Officer Swapan Kumar Bhoumik said polling centres were determined within the timeframe set by the commission.
