HAU marks 5th founding anniversary

HABIGANJ, Dec 17: Habiganj Agricultural University (HAU) marked its fifth founding anniversary with a series of colourful programmes on Wednesday.

The celebrations began with a vibrant procession that started from Gopaya Union Parishad at 12:30pm and concluded at the university campus. 

Students carrying agricultural-themed banners and festive decorations participated in the rally. Following the procession, balloons and peace doves were released in the campus as part of the celebrations.

The ceremony was attended by HAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Saiyem Uddin Ahmad; Alhaj G.K. Gauch, Organisational Secretary of BNP's National Executive Committee; Islam Torafdar Tanu, Joint Convener of Habiganj BNP; Maulana Mukhlisur Rahman, Ameer of Habiganj district branch of Jamaat-e-Islami; Secretary Kazi Mohsin Ahmed; Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Convener of NCP Habiganj; Md Shamsul Huda, General Secretary of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Habiganj; Mansur Uddin Ahmed Iqbal, Senior Journalist and Pabna Correspondent of Dainik Ittefaq; Professor Ikramul Wadud, President of Bangladesh Environmental Movement (BAPA), Habiganj; along with various political, social, and cultural leaders, as well as university faculty, staff, and students.

After the balloon release, invited guests and students cut the anniversary cake. Speaking at the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Saiyem Uddin Ahmad said, "Habiganj Agricultural University will play a crucial role in advancing agricultural development in Habiganj and the Haor region through education and research."

HAU was established on December 17, 2020, to promote agricultural education and research. Currently operating from a temporary campus, the university has four faculties offering various academic programmes.
