Bangladesh has entered the record books with a mass parachuting display in which 54 paratroopers descended simultaneously while carrying national flags, celebrating 54 years of the country’s independence.

The unique event was organised by the Armed Forces on Tuesday at the parade ground adjacent to the Tejgaon Old Airport in the capital.

A total of 54 paratroopers from ‘Team Bangladesh’ took part in the historic display, establishing a world record for the highest number of participants parachuting simultaneously while holding flags.

Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus witnessed the event.

The programme also featured a flypast involving the Army, Navy and Air Force, during which various aircraft and helicopters of the Bangladesh Air Force carried out aerial manoeuvres.

Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered at the old airport in the Tejgaon area to watch the Victory Day air show. By around 11:00 AM, long queues of spectators were seen at the entrance gates near Agargaon, with visitors entering after security checks.

Members of the Army, Air Force and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed to maintain security.
