Sarjis to contest for Panchagarh-1, collects nomination form

Jatiya Nagarik Party (NCP)’s northern region chief organiser Sarjis Alam has collected a nomination form to contest upcoming national election from the Panchagarh-1 constituency.

The nomination form was collected on Monday afternoon from Panchagarh District Election Office by party leaders and activists.

Speaking to The Daily Observer, Sarjis Alam said he had been nominated by his party to contest for Panchagarh-1 and his party activists had formally collected the nomination papers on behalf of him.

He expressed hope that the interim government and the ministries concerned with law and order and election management would take maximum measures to ensure security and a fair election.

Speaking about the shooting of Osman Hadi, Sarjis said the incident had created a new security concern and warned that anti-democratic forces might attempt to disrupt the upcoming election.

He also urged the interim government and relevant authorities to take all necessary steps to ensure a free and fair election, expressing optimism that such efforts would pave the way for a credible democratic transition.
