Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof. Abu Jafor said that the bullet entered Hadi’s head from the right side and exited near the left.
He also said that Hadi was moved to Evercare Hospital after undergoing emergency surgery at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), based on his family’s request.
“At the time of admission, his Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score was at the lowest point, indicating a severe neurological condition. Thanks to the doctors’ efforts, there has been slight improvement, but he is still on mechanical ventilation,” he said.
He added that the entry wound caused by the bullet was small, but the exit wound was significantly larger, a common occurrence in such injuries. “The brain swells and pressure rises, which can be extremely dangerous,” he noted.
To alleviate the pressure on Hadi’s brain, neurosurgeons led by Dr. Zahid Raihan performed a complex procedure, removing a portion of the skull to prevent further damage. Hadi also suffered bleeding through the nose and throat, which was successfully controlled by ENT specialists.
While there had been an initial plan to transfer him to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Hadi’s family opted for Evercare Hospital. “We coordinated with Evercare Hospital and arranged his transfer there,” Prof. Jafor said.
Hadi remains under intensive care, with doctors closely monitoring his condition to manage the effects of the severe head injury.
