Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has strongly condemned the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi and announced nationwide protest rallies and prayer gatherings on Saturday in response to the incident.
In a joint statement on Friday, Chhatra Shibir Central President Zahidul Islam and Secretary General Nurul Islam Saddam expressed deep concern over the attack. They described it as alarming that a parliamentary candidate was targeted just a day after the election schedule was announced.
“The attack appears to be part of a deliberate plan to destabilize the country. Professional hitmen targeted Osman Hadi, which is a clear manifestation of dirty and violent politics. We strongly reject any attempt to gain political advantage through murder,” the statement read.
The student leaders demanded an immediate investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage from the scene, to identify and arrest those responsible. They also called for strengthened law enforcement measures to ensure public safety.
The statement concluded with prayers for Hadi’s recovery and urged the government to ensure he receives proper medical care.
