BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has cautioned that the next national election will not be as easy as it is being thought.
Tarique Rahman said this while speaking as the virtual chief guest at a program organized by BNP at the Krishibid Institution Auditorium in the capital's Farmgate on Thursday evening.
The top BNP leader said, What I said a year, a year and a half ago that the upcoming election is not what you think. Today, my words are slowly being proven. If we are not serious now, the existence and sovereignty of this country will face threats.
This is the only thing that can save democracy and strengthen the foundation of that democracy - you, every person of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, he said.
More than a thousand leaders of BNP's divisional organizational units participated in this program titled 'Plan for Building the Nation' on the occasion of the month of victory.
Tarique Rahman said at the programme that people should go door to door to inform them of BNP's plans. Then surely people will give BNP a chance to run the state. He further said, if BNP comes to power, there will be no party government. Those who voted for BNP, along with those who did not vote, will have to work for them. Work cannot be done for anyone specific.
The acting chairman of BNP said, BNP is not showing dreams, BNP will implement dreams. There is not much time left for the election. The party has to support those in whose hands the rice sheaf has been given. Candidates will come, candidates will change, but the party and ideology will remain.
Addressing the BNP leaders and workers present, the acting chairman of the party said, 'In different places, I saw some people going to mosques and talking about them. If they can say it, why can't you say it If you say it, everyone will say it, if you don't, no one will say it. You should take measures in your area accordingly.
He said, Everyone has the right to speak. And if there is a rule somewhere, don't speak. Then that rule will apply to everyone. It can't be for some people and not for others, that's impossible.
He again warned his party colleagues that the next election will be a tough one, as lies and false campaigns are being spread continuously. He urged them to be serious and to reach out to people with the party's plans and programmes.
"You must study our plans. If you don't read them or know them, then how will you explain what you want to do and what your party wants to do Others I won't mention any name you know very well that in your constituencies, upazilas and municipalities, they are always spreading different kinds of lies to mislead people," he said.
Speaking virtually at the closing session of the fifth day of BNP's 'Plan to Build the Country' workshop, Tarique said BNP leaders and workers do not need to respond with lies.
"You don't need that. You already have many correct, truthful and realistic points on your side to counter those," he said.
