Doctor declares child Sajid dead

The doctor declared child Sajid dead onThursday night, who fell into an abandoned deep tube-well shaft in Tanore upazila of Rajshahi.

Fire Service members rescued him at around9:07 PM after more than 32 hours of rescue operation and rushed him to Tanore Upazila Health Complex.

According to the doctor, the child had likely died long before he was brought out fromtheshaftand there were no injury marks on his body.

Earlier, Sajid fell into the hidden shaft on Wednesday afternoon while walking across a field with his mother. The hole had been covered with straw and his family did not know the matter.

Later, locals informed fire service to rescue the child. After a few hours, members from police, army and other forces joined into the operation.
Tanore Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shahinuzzaman said the diameter of the abandoned tubewell's boring is five feet, created earlier for testing groundwater and later collapsed after heavy rain.
