BARVIDA holds AGM, reviews reconditioned vehicle sector issues

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 of Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (BARVIDA) was held at Dhaka Ladies Club recently, says a press release.

Abdul Haque, President of BARVIDA chaired the meeting while the Secretary General Reaz Rahman, Vice-Presidents and the Executive Committee Members attended. Former Presidents and Secretary Generals of the ogranizaition also joined the meeting.
Around 550 members of the association were present at the AGM.

Addressing the meeting, BARVIDA President Abdul Haque emphasized the need to formulate a comprehensive automobile policy in light of country's overall car import business, and the automobile industry development policy formulated by the ministry of industries. He also highlighted the contribution of the reconditioned car import sector to the country's socio-economic context in the context of local investment, extensive employment, investment in backward linkage industries and the revenue provided to the government.

The BARVIDA President mentioned that BARVIDA has been making an important contribution to the country's transport sector by providing quality vehicles with the latest technology to the society for the last 4 decades. The cars imported by BARVIDA are of Japanese domestic models, which are able to provide quality services by meeting the needs and demands of the majority of the buyers, he added. He said that the reconditioned car import business is a 'social business', not just a profit-making business.

Reaz Rahman, Secretary General of BARVIDA, in his power point presentation highlighted the activities of the association held in last 1 year. Treasurer of the association Md Saiful Alam presented the income and expenditures of the organization at the meeting.

The annual budget of the Association was approved by the members at the meeting, and the auditor for the year 2025-2026 was appointed.

BARVIDA has been contributing lion's share in the country's transport sector by supplying vehicles over the last more than 3 decades.

Currently, around 1300 enterprises under the BARVIDA membership are in operations across the country. The total investment in this sector is Tk 20,000 Crore taka.
