Munim-Juel to lead IUJA new committee

Niamatullah Munim of Dainik Khoborer Kagoj and Juel Rana of The Daily Observer have been elected president and general secretary of the Islamic University Journalists' Association (IUJA).

The vote was held on Sunday from 9:00am to 12:00pm at the university's Press Corner. IU Student Advisor Prof Dr Obayedul Islam served as the chief election commissioner, while former IUJA president M Suza Uddin and Imran Shuvro acted as assistant election commissioners.

After the balloting, Islamic University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah formally announced the new committee as the chief guest at the event. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Yeaqub Ali and Treasurer Prof Dr Jahangir Alam were also present as special guests. A number of teachers, student organisation leaders and cultural representatives attended the programme.
The newly formed IUJA executive committee includes: Vice-President Morshed Mamun (Daily Kalbela); Joint Secretary Edul Hasan Farhan (Daily Dinkal); Treasurer Jamal Uddin (Shikkhabarta); Office Secretary Tanim Tanvir (Rising BD); Publicity Secretary Abu Ubaida (BSS); Executive Member Anisur Rahman (Daily Ittefaq); Newly elected General Secretary Juel Rana expressed gratitude to IUJA members. The president thanked members for their confidence and called for collective support in the coming year.
