Workshop concealed arms factory in Laxmipur; main suspect held

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested an individual concealing an arms factory at Chandraganj area in Laxmipur Sadar upazila, from Chandraghona Police Station in Rangamati district on Tuesday evening.

The arrested is Nur Uddin, a resident of Jagdishpur village under Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive and arrested Nur Uddin from the illegal workshop under the cover of Noha Auto Traders and Engineering Workshop.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration & Finance) Hosain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi confirmed the detention and said that legal procedure is underway.

Earlier on 1 December, police recovered a locally made firearm and a substantial quantity of weapons manufacturing equipment from the workshop, but Nur fled the scene.

Following the incident, a case was filed against him under the Arms Control Act with Chandraganj Police Station.

Later on 7 December, police again recovered five single-barrel guns and one LG from a bush in Jagdishpur area under Noakhali’s Alaiarpur union.

Investigations later confirmed that the seized arms had also been produced inside Nur Uddin’s workshop.
