Canadian High Commissioner Ajit Singh has praised the Bangladesh Armed Forces for their constructive role in maintaining stability and facilitating a peaceful transition toward a democratically elected government.
The remarks came during his separate meetings with the chiefs of the Bangladesh Navy and Air Force on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by the Canadian High Commission, Singh expressed appreciation for the armed forces’ “positive role” in ensuring stability during a crucial political period.
During discussions with Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Singh reviewed ongoing defence cooperation and explored opportunities to expand bilateral engagement.
The talks highlighted shared priorities such as training, capacity building and developing stronger defence industry partnerships.
The envoy underscored Canada’s advanced defence, maritime and aerospace capabilities, noting that Canadian technologies support modernization, safety and interoperability for global partners.
The service chiefs also briefed Singh on preparations for the upcoming national election, expected to be the largest in Bangladesh’s history.
According to the High Commission, Canada values Bangladesh’s long-standing contributions to global peace and security and aims to deepen its collaboration with Bangladesh’s defence institutions, including through potential partnerships with Canadian defence companies.
