A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the seizure of two cars and 190 decimals of land belonging to former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in connection with a graft case.

The vehicles are valued at Tk 1.61 crore, while the land is worth Tk 3.18 crore, according to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The order was issued by Acting Judge Muhammad Kamrul Hasan Khan of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court following an ACC petition.

ACC Deputy Director Afroza Haque Khan, in her petition, stated that Kamal had allegedly amassed Tk 16.41 crore in wealth disproportionate to his known income and conducted suspicious transactions totaling Tk 55.92 crore across eight bank accounts.

ACC informed the court that investigators had learned the assets were at risk of being sold or transferred.

The commission argued that the seizure was necessary to protect the assets from disposal before the investigation concludes and potential forfeiture by the state.
