Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh over the loss of lives and extensive damage caused by the recent catastrophic floods in central Vietnam.
In a message released by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing on Tuesday evening, Prof Yunus expressed deep sorrow over the disaster, which has left over a hundred people dead or missing and caused significant damage to agriculture and infrastructure.
“On behalf of the Government and the People of Bangladesh, I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Our sympathies are with those injured and affected by this tragic flood,” he wrote.
Prof Yunus noted Bangladesh’s own vulnerability to climate-related disasters, saying, “As a climate-vulnerable country, we understand the human suffering and economic impact of such natural disasters. At this moment of grief, we sincerely pray for the eternal peace of the departed souls and the quick recovery of the injured. We hope Vietnam rebuilds and recovers from the adverse impacts of the floods soon.”
He also assured that Bangladesh is ready to provide any possible support and cooperation to Vietnam, if required, adding, “Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
