A Dhaka court has placed Titumir College student Bishwajit Chandra Barman on a two-day remand in a case filed under the allegation of making derogatory comments about the Prophet Muhammad (SM) on social media.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah issued the order on Monday after hearing a police request seeking seven days' remand. Public Prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed the decision.
Defence lawyer Gulzar Hossain sought cancellation of the remand and applied for bail, arguing that Bishwajit was falsely implicated due to a personal dispute. After hearing both sides, the court approved a two-day remand.

Bishwajit was handed over to Banani Police Station on 26 November by fellow students, who alleged he had used multiple social media accounts, including one under the name Faria Akter, to post and exchange comments deemed offensive. Police arrested him the following day and sent him to jail.
