
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has said that the government is moving forward with a commitment to deliver the nation its best-ever election in the first half of February next year.
The statement came during a briefing on Sunday evening, when Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin, accompanied by other Election Commissioners, updated the Chief Adviser on preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections and the simultaneous national referendum.
The meeting was held at the State Guest House Jamuna.
Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Tahmida Ahmad, Md Anwarul Islam Saker, Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, and EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed attended the meeting.
Also present were National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman and Chief Secretary of the Chief Adviser’s Office M. Siraj Uddin Mia.
During the briefing, CEC Nasir Uddin reported that all preparations for the elections are progressing smoothly. The commission is fully ready to conduct the parliamentary elections and referendum simultaneously in early February.
He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Adviser for the administration’s cooperation and conveyed appreciation to law enforcement and military personnel for their support during the preparation process.
Noting the active engagement of citizens in electoral activities, CEC Nasir Uddin highlighted how public participation has helped create a vibrant election atmosphere across the country.
Chief Adviser expressed satisfaction with the
Election Commission’s preparations and reaffirmed the government’s
commitment to supporting a free, fair and transparent election.
Chief Adviser Yunus also emphasized that the EC is at the forefront of delivering the long-awaited elections and underscored the interim government’s commitment to ensuring a historic, well-conducted process.
“You are at the driver’s seat in this long-awaited election and we must achieve our desired objectives,” he said.
