Magura observed its historic Liberation Day on Sunday with vibrant programs and solemn tributes to the martyrs and heroes of the 1971 Liberation War.

Beginning with a lively victory rally from the Deputy Commissioner's office, participants carried national flags, banners and festoons through the main streets of the town before returning to the DC office to celebrate the day.

A discussion meeting followed in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdullah Al Mahmud. Freedom fighter leaders, political figures, government and private-sector officials and local well-wishers attended the session.

Speakers highlighted the heroic contributions of freedom fighters, recalled the history of Magura’s liberation and stressed the importance of nurturing patriotic values among the younger generation.

To mark the occasion, the district administration also organised special prayers and supplications at mosques, temples and other places of worship, seeking eternal peace for the martyrs and continued peace and prosperity for the country.
