Police recovered a stash of firearms from a broken grave in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district on Sunday morning, after a caller contacted the National Emergency Service 999.

According to sources, a resident from Jagadishpur area discovered several firearms inside a damaged grave while cleaning a graveyard at around 10:30 AM and called 999 to inform police.

After receiving the call, 999 call taker Constable Shakhawat immediately informed Begumganj Police Station for urgent action and the rescue operation was monitored and coordinated by 999 dispatcher SI Rezaul Karim.

Being informed, a police team from Begumganj rushed to the spot and recovered five locally made single-barrel guns and one pipe gun from the grave and handed over to Chandraganj police station, as the location lies along the border between Lakshmipur and Noakhali districts—and falls under Chandraganj Police Station in Lakshmipur.

National Emergency Service 999 Media and Public Relations Officer Anowar Sattar confirmed the incident through a press release and said that legal proceedures are underway.
