An air ambulance arranged by the Qatar government to transport former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London has requested permission to land in Dhaka on Tuesday, December 9.
If approved, the aircraft is scheduled to depart with the former prime minister for London the following day, December 10.
A senior official of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) confirmed the development on Saturday.
He said Germany-based FAI Aviation Group, through a third party, applied for flight clearance to arrive in Dhaka on December 9 and depart for London on December 10.
CAAB has forwarded the request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for necessary approval.
According to CAAB, the Qatar government has hired the air ambulance from FAI Aviation Group specifically for Khaleda Zia’s medical transfer.
The aircraft is a Bombardier Challenger 604 (CL60), widely used for long-distance medical evacuation flights and operated by one of Germany’s leading air ambulance and mission-critical aviation service providers.
The Challenger 604 is known for its strong transcontinental capabilities, making it suitable for a Dhaka-to-London medical transfer.
