800 cartons of foreign cigarettes seized at Ctg airport

800 cartons of foreign cigarettes have been recovered from the 'Lost and Found Corner' of the Customs Arrival Hall of the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.

These cigarettes were seized from the 'Lost and Found Corner' of the Customs Arrival Hall of the airport around 11 AM on Saturday.

According to airport sources, six suspiciously abandoned pieces of luggage were identified during surveillance in the arrival hall area around 11 AM. Later, a search was conducted, and 800 cartons of cigarettes were found in 6 pieces of luggage. Since no owner of the luggage was identified, these goods were declared abandoned and seized.

Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Public Relations Officer of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport, said that the potential revenue collection from the seized cigarettes is about Tk 90 lakh. Legal action is under process to identify those involved in this incident.
