Joint forces arrested four individuals along with firearms and drugs from Keshabpur upazila in Jashore district on Thursday night.
The arrested are Alamgir Hossain, 40 and Jahangir Hossain Polash, 35, both are residents of Bhogti village; Rasel, 23, a resident of Mulgram and Ujjal Biswas, 39 from Altapol village. Jahangir Hossain Polash serves as convener of the municipal Swechhasebak Dal, while Alamgir Hossain and Ujjal Biswas were expelled from the municipal Jubo Dal.
According to sources, joint forces conducted separate raids in Bhogti and Altapol areas and arrested the quartet with firearms and drugs.
Joint forces recovered a pistol, five bullets, a magazine, two machetes, two knife, two chapatti, a Chinese hatchet, two electric shock devices, three small axes and 30 pieces of Yaba pills from their possessions.
Confirming the incident, Keshabpur Police Statioon sub-inspector (SI) Helal Uzzaman said that separate cases have been filed against the four under the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act, and that they were handed over to the court on Friday evening for legal proceedings.
