Jamaat Ameer to visit UK, meets British High Commissioner

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to visit the United Kingdom, party sources said.

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke paid a courtesy call on him at the Jamaat central office in Dhaka's Bashundhara on Thursday.

The meeting also included Political Counselor Timothy Duckett.
During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on various current issues in Bangladesh and expressed hope for stronger bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UK in the future.

According to sources, Shafiqur Rahman is expected to meet a British minister during his upcoming trip.
