Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has transferred the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of 50 police stations as part of preparations for the upcoming national elections.
The order, signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzad Ali, takes immediate effect, according to a notification issued on Thursday.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said the reshuffle is intended to ensure neutrality, effective performance and stability in law and order during the election period.
He noted that OCs play a crucial frontline role in public service and law enforcement.
The transfer comes after the interim government appointed 527 OCs nationwide through a newly introduced lottery system, Assistant Inspector General (Media) at Police Headquarters AHM Sahadat Hossaine told reporters.
Earlier, on November 26, the Ministry of Home Affairs similarly appointed Superintendents of Police (SPs) in all 64 districts through a lottery, under a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Mahbubur Rahman.
