The extension of MRT Line-6 from Motijheel to Kamalapur is expected to require an additional three years for completion, though the overall project cost has decreased by nearly Tk 755 crore. The revised proposal-marked as the third amendment to the project-was discussed at the ECNEC, according to a DMTCL officia.

The ECNEC meeting, held on Monday (1 December) with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus in the chair, reviewed the revised components. According to the new proposal, acquiring an additional 3.56 hectares of land for the Vijay Sarani, Farmgate, Shahbagh, Dhaka University and Motijheel stations is no longer required, saving Tk 1,121 crore.

In addition, four planned station plazas-at Uttara North, Uttara Central, Agargaon, and Motijheel-have been dropped, reducing expenses by another Tk 165 crore. Savings of around Tk 210 crore were made from adjustments in core construction, electrical and mechanical systems, railway management systems, and resettlement consultancy.
