For the first time in Bangladesh, a private hospital has received official approval to conduct bone marrow transplants.
Azgar Ali Hospital has been granted permission by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a development experts are calling a significant milestone in the country's advanced medical care. The information was announced in a press release issued on Wednesday, signed by Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan, Deputy Chief Information Officer of the ministry.
According to the release, Azgar Ali Hospital, located in Dhaka's Gandaria, has been authorized to carry out bone marrow transplant procedures. Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum handed over the approval letter at her office in the Secretariat, which was received by the hospital's CEO and Director, Professor Dr Zabrul SM Haque.
The ministry stated that this is the first time a private institution in Bangladesh has been formally approved to perform bone marrow transplants.
