Leave-to-appeal order on validity of interim govt on Thursday

The hearing of leave-to-appeal petition challenging the High Court's decision declaring formation of the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus valid ended on Wednesday.

The order, in this regard, will be delivered on Thursday (December 4) by the Supreme Court's Appellate Division.

A seven-member bench led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed set the date.

During the hearing, lawyers said that the legitimacy of the people is the greatest legitimacy. The basis of legitimacy is the trust and belief of the people.

In its full text order, the High Court observed that the interim government led by Yunus was supported by legal documents and formed by the will of the people.
Lawyer Muhammad Mohsen Rashid filed the leave to appeal petition with the Appellate Division on February 25, challenging the HC order.
