Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit organised a doa mahfil seeking the recovery and well-being of three-time former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Tuesday afternoon.
The programme was held after the Asr prayers at the university's central mosque, where more than a hundred Chhatra Dal activists and worshippers took part.
Participants offered special prayers for Begum Khaleda Zia's quick recovery and good health. Prayers were also offered for the eternal peace of former president Ziaur Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko.
Additionally, doa was conducted seeking good health and prosperity for BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman as well as peace and welfare for the nation. The mosque's khatib led the prayers.
Speaking at the event, JU JCD Member Secretary Wasim Ahmed Anik said, "Begum Khaleda Zia is a pioneer of democratic movements and women's empowerment in Bangladesh. She embraced imprisonment without compromise for the sake of the country and its people."
He added, "The mother of democracy is now critically ill and undergoing treatment at a hospital. We organised this doa mahfil to pray for her recovery and long life."
