Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar announced on Tuesday that the 13th parliamentary elections and the July Charter implementation referendum will be held on any day between 8 and 12 February.

He said the Election Commission will meet on 7 December to finalise the election schedule and fix the exact date.

Based on that meeting, the schedule is expected to be announced on 11 December.

To accommodate the simultaneous conduct of two separate polls, the Election Commission is considering increasing the number of polling stations and extending voting hours.

The voting period could be lengthened by one hour, making it nine hours in total, the commissioner added.
