Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), known as Rampal power plant has achieved a significant milestone by generating over 700 million units of electricity in November.
"The exceptional perform of Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant (MSTPP), a joint venture between Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and NTPC of India, demonstrates its outstanding operational efficiency and reliability," according to a company release.
Throughout the month, the plant consistently supplied power to the national grid, contributing approximately 11.50 per cent of the country's total electricity demand, thereby further strengthening its position as one of the top power producers in Bangladesh, it said.
The release further noted that this milestone reflects the plant's strong industrial capacity, efficient coal and resource management, and meticulous financial and operational planning.
The MSTPP has been regularly supplying more than 600 million units of electricity - about 8 percent of the nation's total demand - and November's achievement has set a new benchmark for power sector, the release added.
With its steady performance and dependable output, the MSTPP continues to play a vital role in ensuring Bangladesh's energy security by powering industries, households and overall economic growth across the country.
