Health officials on Monday said that they recorded 610 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.
"We recorded deaths of two dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today," a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, adding his office simultaneously recorded 610 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.
According to the DGHS statistics, two died in the area with the purview of Dhaka South City Corporation.
"Out of the 610 fresh cases, 52 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 122 in Chattogram division, 81 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 102 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 171 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 31 in Khulna division, 26 in Mymensingh division, 17 in Rajshahi division, two in Rangpur division and six in Sylhet division," a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts in Bangladesh this year, the country has witnessed 384 deaths, while the disease has afflicted 95,012.
The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and afflicted 101,214 people in the country.
