Bangladesh’s U-17 team put up a brave fight but were ultimately defeated 4–0 by China in the final Group A match of AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Chongqing on Sunday, ending their hopes of qualifying for next year’s main event in Saudi Arabia.

The young Tigers started the match with determination, pressing aggressively in the opening minutes.

In the 12th minute, Rediuon forced an error from the Chinese goalkeeper and won a corner, giving Bangladesh an early glimpse of hope.

The team built a few promising attacks, but were unable to convert their chances in the final third.

China quickly asserted control, with forward Shuai Weihao scoring two first-half goals, putting Bangladesh under severe pressure.

The second half saw Weihao complete his hat-trick in the 53rd minute with a clinical header from a corner, effectively sealing the match.

Goalkeeper Alif made several crucial saves, including one just before the third goal and another in the 58th minute, earning praise for his efforts despite the heavy defeat.

China added a fourth goal in the 88th minute through Zhao Songyuan, completing a dominant display.

Bangladesh end the qualifiers with four wins and one loss. While the team fell short of qualification, their spirited performances throughout the tournament have reignited hope for the future of youth football in the country.
