BAGHA, RAJSHAHI, Nov 30: BNP's nominated candidate for Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat), Abu Sayeed Chand, has said that if polling agents perform their duties properly, "no one can stop the victory of the 'Sheaf of Paddy'.
He described each agent as "a guardian of their polling centre," stressing the need for training and awareness to ensure a fair election.
Speaking at a training workshop for polling agents on Sunday morning, Chand said agents' professionalism and vigilance are crucial to preventing irregularities. "There may be attempts to create pressure, confusion or fear inside polling centres. Agents must remain mentally strong, act with confidence, and follow the law," he added.
The workshop, jointly organised by upazila and municipal BNP along with allied organisations, was attended by 400 polling agents. After the session, prayers were offered for the speedy recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
Discussions covered election guidelines, booth management, identifying and preventing irregularities, and assisting different categories of voters. Former district BNP organising secretary Golam Mostafa Mamun served as master trainer, while Chand himself inaugurated the programme.
Conducted by Shafiqul Islam, the event also featured speeches from upazila BNP Convener Fakhrul Hasan Bablu, Member Secretary Ashraf Ali Molin, former general secretary Saiful Islam, committee members Moklesur Rahman Mukul and Suruzzaman, Bagha municipal BNP President Kamal Hossain, General Secretary Tofiqul Islam Tofi, district Chhatra Dal Convener Shamim Sarkar, upazila Jubo Dal leader Saleh Ahmed Salam, and municipal BNP leader Abdul Latif, among others.
