Jubo League leader held in Ctg

Police arrested a local leader of Jubo League, an associate organisation of banned political organisation Awami League, from Patiya upazila of Chattogram district on Friday night.

The arrested is Md Karim alias Rahim. He was a former Union Parishad member and vice-president of the Kolagaon Union unit of Juba League.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in the Kolagaon area and arrested Karim.

Patiya Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Nuruzzaman confirmed the detention and said that the arrested had been involved in various criminal activities in the area and had been in hiding since August 5.

Karim, a close aide of former Awami League lawmaker Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, was wanted in two separate cases – one for attempted murder and another under the Explosive Act – filed with Kotwali police under the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
