JASHORE, Nov 29: Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Special Assistant to the BNP Chairperson and Chief Coordinator of the Central Shramik Dal, has stated that the BNP has been engaged in politics for the nation's progress, prosperity, and development.

He said the party understands the interests of the country's soil and its people, that is why Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has drawn up a work plan to build a safe and prosperous Bangladesh for the future.

He made these remarks as the chief guest while addressing a workers' rally organised by the Jashore District Shramik Dal on Friday.

The rally was held at the Town Hall Maidan. A special prayer and Munajat were offered for the swift recovery of the gravely ill BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas further said that the martyred President Ziaur Rahman took pride in identifying himself as a worker.

He honoured the working class and created new employment opportunities for them. For the benefit of workers, he introduced a three-shift work system in the country's factories.

The remittances from workers abroad have become a major source of foreign exchange, and it was Martyred President Ziaur Rahman who facilitated their employment overseas.

He alleged that leaders and activists of the "fascist Awami League" have built houses abroad with state funds, asserting that no one would get such an opportunity in the future.

He stated that workers have played an unparalleled role in every democratic movement in the country, with over a hundred Labour Party activists sacrificing their lives in the recent July revolution.

He claimed that the dignity given to the working class by Martyred President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia will be continued by Tarique Rahman in the future.

He announced that if the BNP returns to state power, it will create employment for one crore people, reopen all closed factories, and introduce a 'Family Card' for women from every family, providing them with funds for household expenses.

He called upon the workers to ensure the victory of the 'Paddy Sheaf' symbol candidate Anindya Islam Amit, in the upcoming national parliament elections for the Jashore-3 (Sadar) constituency.
