JASHORE, Nov 29: The BNP-supported panel has emerged victorious in the Jashore District Bar Association election.
Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, President of Jashore District BNP, has been elected as the Association's President with 337 votes.
The current General Secretary Advocate MA Gafur, has been re-elected to his post with 271 votes. The results were announced unofficially around 10 pm on Friday by Election Management Committee Chairman Advocate Mohsin Ali.
According to the announced results, the Jamaat-e-Islami-supported candidate for President Advocate Abdul Latif secured 171 votes. In the General Secretary race, the nearest rivals were Abu Mortuza Chhoton with 154 votes and another candidate Kazi Refat Rezwan Setu with 82 votes.
For the Vice-President posts, Advocate Golam Mostafa with 357 votes and Basu Deb Bishwas with 249 votes were elected. For the Joint Secretary position, Advocate Nur Alam Pannu was elected with 349 votes. For the Assistant Secretary posts, Advocate Selim Reza with 337 votes and Advocate Rina Akter Mili with 294 votes were elected. Advocate Kamrul Hasan Sohail was elected as the Library Secretary with 250 votes.
Furthermore, for the executive member posts, the following were elected: Advocate Rehena Parvin (355 votes), Munshi Md Manzurul Mahmud Litu (318 votes), Mowluda Parvin (318 votes), Azaharul Islam (260 votes), and Shafiqul Islam (259 votes).
