A teenage girl died after committing suicide over family dispute at Lalmohan upazila in Bhola district on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as Mosammat Ismotara, 11, daughter of Md Mizanur Rahman, a resident of Ward No-1 of Lalmohan municipality. Ismotara was a student at a local Hefzkhana madrasa.
According to sources, Ismotara returned home at noon after class and later went out to play with other children instead of going back to the madrasa. Her mother scolded her and sent her to take a bath.
When she did not come out of the bathroom for a long time, family members looked through the ventilator and found her hanging with a scarf.
Later, with the help of neighbours, family members break open the door and took her to Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Lalmohan Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Sirajul Islam confirmed the incident and said that an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident.
