Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) arrested a youth along with counterfeit Bangladeshi currency from Kotwali police station in Jashore district on Thursday evening.
The arrested is Md Ibrahim Gazi, 19, a resident of Ganeshpur village under Patkelghata police station in Satkhira District.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6 officials conducted a drive on Thursday afternoon at a tea stall near Monihar Cinema Hall and arrested Ibrahim with Tk 90000 in fake notes, who was reportedly waiting to sell fake currency.
During interrogation, Ibrahim admitted to keeping more counterfeit money and printing equipment at his Ganeshpur residence.
Following this incident, RAB raided his house the same evening, seizing Tk 339,600 in fake notes, a colour printer, computer equipment and other materials for producing counterfeit currency.
In total, Tk 429,600 in counterfeit notes was seized during the two operations.
RAB-6 confirmed the incident through a press release and said that the arrested, along with the seized items, were handed over to Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station for legal action, and a case has been filed in this connection.
