BAGHA, RAJSHAHI, Nov 21: Abu Sayeed Chand, member of the BNP central committee and Convener of the party's Rajshahi District unit, has secured the paddy-sheaf symbol to contest the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election from Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat).
Chand will face two challengers: Imran Imon, the Rajshahi Divisional Organising Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and a member of its central convening committee, and Principal Nazmul Haque, General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami's Rajshahi East organisational district. All three candidates have already received their respective party nominations.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir formally announced Chand as the party's candidate on November 3. Jamaat nominated its contender around two months earlier, while the NCP finalised its candidate just days ago.
Following the announcements, the candidates have begun door-to-door campaigns to present their credentials and seek support from voters.
The Rajshahi-6 constituency comprises Bagha and Charghat upazilas. It has a total of 304,275 registered voters, including 151,687 women and 152,588 men.
