FENI, Nov 20: The Feni Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (4 BGB) has seized Indian goods worth approximately Tk 1 crore 7 lakh 48 thousand during a series of anti-smuggling operations along the bordering areas of Feni and Chattogram.
According to BGB sources, acting on confidential intelligence, teams from 4 BGB conducted operations on November 19 and 20 in border points of Fulgazi, Chhagalnaiya, and Parshuram upazilas of Feni, as well as the Jorarganj area under Mirsarai Upazila in Chattogram.
During the drives, BGB recovered large quantities of Indian sarees, three-piece sets, panjabis, chocolates, liquor, cattle, and other contraband items. The seized goods are valued at Tk 1,07,48,000. The process of handing the items over to the customs office and narcotics control authorities is underway.
Lieutenant Colonel Mosharraf Hossain, commander of the Feni Battalion, said the unit has intensified surveillance and operational activities to curb drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal border crossings. "Our drives and intelligence efforts along the border will continue," he added.
