The last set of European qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup will be played on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, with several spots still up for grabs. Here is an overview of the qualification scenarios across all groups:
Group A (Germany, Slovakia, Northern Ireland, Luxembourg)
Germany face Slovakia in a decisive clash, with qualification guaranteed if they avoid defeat. A Slovak victory would send them to their first World Cup since 2010. The runner-up will go to the play-offs, joined by Northern Ireland through their Nations League route.
Group B (Switzerland, Kosovo, Slovenia, Sweden)
Switzerland need only to avoid a six-goal defeat against Kosovo to claim their sixth straight World Cup berth. Kosovo, already sure of a play-off place, are still hoping for a historic first qualification.
Group C (Denmark, Scotland, Greece, Belarus)
Denmark qualify if they avoid defeat in Scotland, who must win to reach the finals. The loser will enter the play-offs.
Group D (France, Ukraine, Iceland, Azerbaijan)
France have already secured qualification. Ukraine, in third, must beat Iceland to leapfrog them for a play-off spot.
Group E (Spain, Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria)
Spain will qualify unless Turkey beat them by seven goals, while Turkey are guaranteed at least a play-off position.
Group F (Portugal, Hungary, Ireland, Armenia)
Portugal will qualify by beating Armenia, or if Hungary draw with Ireland. All three remain in contention for the group win. Ireland must win to keep their play-off hopes alive. Cristiano Ronaldo is suspended for the final match.
Group G (Netherlands, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Malta)
The Netherlands only need to avoid defeat to bottom-placed Lithuania to secure qualification. Poland, already assured of a play-off spot, must beat Malta, hope for a Dutch defeat, and overturn a 13-goal difference to win the group.
Group H (Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Cyprus, San Marino)
Austria will top the group if they avoid defeat to Bosnia. Bosnia must win to claim first place; otherwise they go to the play-offs.
Group I (Norway, Italy, Israel, Estonia, Moldova)
Norway will qualify for their first World Cup since 1998 unless they lose to Italy by nine or more goals. Italy look set for another play-off run, their third in a row.
Group J (Belgium, North Macedonia, Wales, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein)
Belgium qualify with a win over bottom-ranked Liechtenstein, or if Wales and North Macedonia draw. All three sides could still win the group, but Wales must take three points to secure at least a play-off berth.
Group K (England, Albania, Serbia, Latvia, Andorra)
England have already booked their place, and Albania are confirmed for the play-offs.
Group L (Croatia, Czech Republic, Faroe Islands, Montenegro, Gibraltar)
Croatia are through to the finals, with the Czech Republic also secured a play-off place.
