Ukraine reported on Saturday that its forces had targeted a Russian oil refinery in the Ryazan region near Moscow, following deadly Russian strikes on Kyiv the previous day. Kyiv also said Russian attacks in the country’s south had killed four people.
The Ukrainian military announced on social media that the refinery strike was part of efforts to limit Russia’s capacity to launch missile and aerial attacks. Ukraine has carried out frequent missile and drone operations inside Russia since the Kremlin began its full-scale invasion in 2022.
Ryazan governor Pavel Malkov said Russian air defences shot down 25 Ukrainian drones overnight. He reported that falling debris started a fire at an industrial site but said no casualties were recorded.
Friday’s Russian assault on Kyiv damaged residential buildings and left seven people dead, according to updated figures. Kyiv city administration official Tymur Tkachenko said an elderly woman wounded on November 14 had died in hospital, adding to the toll, which also included a couple in their 70s and a 62-year-old.
Authorities in southern Ukraine said four people were killed in Russian attacks on Saturday. Prosecutors in the Kherson region confirmed three deaths in the village of Myklitskyi and the city of Kherson, while Zaporizhzhia governor Ivan Federov reported one fatality in his region.
