The European Union has voiced its strong support for Bangladesh’s current democratic transition, backing the interim government as the country prepares for upcoming elections.

In a Facebook post, EU reaffirmed its confidence in Bangladesh’s leadership and called on all political parties to take part constructively in the electoral process.

The EU said it “supports the transition in Bangladesh under the interim government leading to democratic elections.”

It welcomed the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, noting his role ahead of participatory, free and fair elections scheduled for February next year.

Additionally, EU urged political parties to act responsibly and be proactive, stating, “We encourage the political parties to engage constructively in the next steps.”
