Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a significant increase in gold prices in the domestic market, with rates rising by up to Tk 4,187 per bhori in a single day.

Following this hike, the price of high-quality gold has surpassed Tk 208,471 per bhori.

According to a statement issued by BAJUS on Tuesday, the new prices will come into effect from Wednesday.

The organization said the adjustment was made in line with the rising cost of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market.

The primary reason for the increase is surge in international gold prices, which have crossed $4,100 per ounce.

Under the new rates, 22-carat gold is priced at Tk 208,471 per bhori, 21-carat gold at Tk 199,000 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 170,563 per tola and gold made by traditional methods at Tk 141,858 per bhori.

While gold prices have risen, silver rates remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver per bhori is Tk 4,246; 21-carat silver is Tk 4,047, 18-carat silver is Tk 3,476 and traditional method silver is Tk 2,601.
