Upazila livestock department and veterinary hospital jointly distributed a total of 392 improved-breed goats among 196 families as grants to improve the socio-economic conditions of underprivileged tribal communities in Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur district on Monday.
Fulbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ishaq Ali, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Sarwar Hossain, Upazila Agriculture Officer Saif Abdullah Mostafin, Phulbari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) AKM Khandakar Mohibbul, Veterinary Surgeon Dr Sojib Howlader, Upazila Fisheries Officer Md Rasheda Akter, as well as other officials and journalists were present, among others.
UNO Ishaq Ali advised them not to sell the goats but rather to improve their financial condition by nurturing them.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Sarwar Hossain confirmed the matter and said that they distributed 392 goats among 196 families to improve the socio-economic status and living standards of underprivileged tribal families residing on plain lands.
They also received goat sheds and 25 kg of feed per beneficiary, added livestock officer.
