Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad, announced on Monday that more than 5.5 lakh members of the force will be deployed to ensure security during the forthcoming national election.
He made the remarks after inaugurating a basic training programme for male and female Ansar-VDP members at Gokulnagar High School in Ashulia of Savar upazila.
“Ansar members have been preparing since August 5. The entire force is being reorganised and reformed to include younger members. Previously, the force lacked youth representation, but over the past one and a half years, we have focused on training individuals aged 18 to 25,” the DG said.
Between December and January, approximately 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh new recruits will undergo training as part of ongoing efforts to address all operational challenges within the force.
The current ten-day training programme involves over 500 male and female trainees and has been organised by the Savar Upazila Ansar and VDP Office.
