Reserve heist review committee's tenure extended for 3rd time

The government has again extended the tenure of the committee formed to review the 2016 Bangladesh Bank reserve heist by two more months until December 31 to submit its recommendations.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.
Earlier, on March 11, the government formed the high-level review committee headed by Law Adviser Asif Nazrul to review matters related to the reserve heist.
The committee was initially asked to submit its recommendations within three months but its tenure was extended twice. The latest term expired on October 31.

Other members of the committee include Energy Adviser Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan; Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fayez Ahmed Taiyeb; Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur; Biman Bangladesh Airlines Director Ali Ashfaq; and Rupali Bank Chairman Md Nazrul Huda.

The committee was tasked with reviewing the progress of previous investigations assessing actions taken by the government, identifying responsibilities related to the reserve theft, and making recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future.
