Jubo League leader held in Rangpur over ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ campaign

Police have arrested a Jubo League leader from Pirganj upazila in Rangpur district while conducting organisational activities to promote the upcoming “Dhaka Lockdown” programme.

The arrest took place around 10:30 AM at Kaikuri union in the upazila on Monday.

The arrested individual has been identified as Amjad Hossain, 50, president of Kaikuri union Jubo League.

According to police, he was campaigning in various areas of the union with party members to mobilise support for the “Dhaka Lockdown” initiative.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SI Shafiqul Islam Akand conducted a raid and apprehended him.

Confirming the arrest, Pirganj Police Station sub-inspector Shafiqul Islam Akand said that legal action is underway against the accused.
